Blunt Farce Trauma

A few days ago I noticed my social media ears were burning (oh okay so I was searching my own name on BlueSky; I’m not the only one who does it and God knows it’s a LOT safer than searching for it on Twitter YEAH I SAID TWITTER BITE ME ELON), and sure enough I came across a conversation between a couple of people wondering - perfectly reasonably - how come the opening titles and end credits of One Brit Wonder, the highly engaging documentary movie about the rise, fall and re-rise of singer-songwriter James Blunt, play over not one of his own songs, but a song which sounds like someone both parodying Blunt’s style and (in one instance) threatening him with violence…

I jumped in to tell them the whole story, and in telling them I realised it’s worth repeating here, as the tale not only extends over two decades but involves emotional journeys being undertaken by myself AND Captain Blunt, and even has a happy ending for everyone (except possibly Ed Sheeran, of which more in due course).
